Copenhagen - Fælledparken Skatepark
SITE worked with a professional engineering firm and local skateboarders Soren Enevoldsen and William Frederiksen on the design of the skate park. SITE also consulted with professional skateboarder Rune Glifberg on the design of the transition areas as this skate park is located in his hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark.
A new skate park with a smooth and even skate-able concrete surface covering 5,110 sqm opened in June 2011. The skate park is graded into three levels of difficulty to offer challenges for beginners, intermediates as well as experts. The renovation was made possible by a donation from the A.P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene Formaal foundation given to the City of Copenhagen on the occasion of Fælledparken's 100-year birthday in 2009. The new skate site is part of an extensive makeover of Fælledparken transforming it into a modern park with a variety of different spaces where visitors can go exploring on their own, participate in different activities or just relax.
