Thornton - Trail Winds Park
The new skate park is the City's second and is located at 134th Avenue and Holly Street. The new area includes the approximately 14,000 square foot concrete skate park, a small parking lot, trail and sidewalk connections, shade pavilion with site furniture, signage and landscaping. The project was primarily funded through the City's Parks and Open Space Tax revenues. The City was also awarded $350,000 from two local grants to use toward the project including an Adams County Open Space Grant for $150,000 and a Great Outdoors Colorado Local Government Grant in the amount of $200,000. The skate park was designed by DHM and Team Pain while SITE Design Group, Inc. created the construction documents and worked with ECI and California Skateparks on the construction. The skate park incorporates the input received during the two skate park workshops. The landscaping at the site was completed in spring 2012.
