San Diego - Linda Vista Skate Park
The Linda Vista skate park is a world class facility and the largest skate park in San Diego at nearly 35,000 square feet. The park includes a massive street plaza, a snaking ditch run, a flow bowl, a backyard bowl, a competition sized vert bowl, and a transition snake run featuring a signature full-pipe unlike any before it. It is one of the most, if not the most, progressive skate parks in existence, and it achieves this not only because of the aforementioned list of elements, but also because it takes full advantage of the natural landscape in which it sits. The skate parks is nestled in a valley of Linda Vista Park and incorporates the natural terrain by forming amphitheater style viewing built into the existing slope, wraps around an integrated a water retention area, deemphasizes the impact of the fence by pushing it outward, and most significantly, it connects an existing sidewalk that would otherwise have to be rerouted around the park with a pedestrian bridge that soars directly above the skate parks and spans the width of the valley. In turn, it provides onlookers with a vantage that is completely unique to this park, give users every possible type of terrain to ride, and create a space that is not only woven into the fabric of the landscape but into the fabric of the community itself.
